Fired Dancers Win ‘Vindicating’ Settlement With Syracuse City Ballet
Syracuse.com reports the Syracuse City Ballet has reached a settlement with six Dancers it fired last year after a finding by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) that the troupe violated the Artists’ rights. The settlement includes back pay and an apology. They were fired after striking against Syracuse City Ballet last Fall and have since gone on to form a new separate troupe, Central New York Ballet Company. The settlement came after the NLRB ruled recently that the Syracuse City Ballet was wrong to fire the Dancers, who went on Strike in part to protest what they described as unsafe working conditions.
