(NEW YORK CITY) - Journalists represented by The NewsGuild of New York - an affiliate of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) - at Lifehacker, Mashable and PCMag are prepared to walk out during Amazon’s July Prime Day event unless Parent Company Ziff Davis agrees to a fair contract.

Members of the Ziff Davis Creators’ Guild produce more than 100 Prime Day articles for readers during the event.

Because most of the content uplifting Prime Day deals includes shoppable affiliate links, Workers have massive leverage with this action because it’s a critical fiscal event for Ziff Davis.

For months, those Union-represented Members have been fighting for a fair contract with wages that keep up with inflation and transparency on how Artificial Intelligence would be used in their work.

They’ve been working under an expired contract since April 1st and 92% of Members have voted in favor of Strike Authorization.

“Ziff Davis management still has time to bargain with us for a contract that honors the work of our Journalists,” said Susan DeCarava, who serves as President of The NewsGuild of New York. “We want to reach a fair deal, but time is running out.  Our Members are prepared to withhold their labor when it will impact the company the most.  We’re ready to walk.”
