The USDOL ‘Is Hitting the Road’ For ‘Good Jobs Summer’
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Acting U.S. Secretary of Labor Julie Su is kick-starting a nationwide tour to talk about the Department of Labor’s (DOL’s) efforts to promote better working conditions across the country and empower Working People.
Su is beginning this circuit first in Phoenix, Arizona, with additional stops planned in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Nevada and Michigan.
She’ll be discussing the DOL’s Good Jobs Principles, a road map to fill the economy not just with jobs, but with jobs that provide Workers with the security, stability, good pay, and quality benefits they need.
The framework defines what makes a good quality job like equitable hiring and recruitment procedures, the freedom to form Unions, opportunities for career advancement, and more.
Said Su: “A good job is one that not only pays family-sustaining wages and benefits, but also one in which Workers have a voice, where every Worker goes home healthy and safe every day, and where families can get - in the President's words, ‘some breathing room. Throughout this summer nationwide tour, I will be highlighting the work that the Department of Labor has done with community partners on the ground to help ensure that every job is a good one and that every Worker feels the commitment that this Administration has made to fight for them.”
