Medical Interns/Residents Union Reaches Tentative Deal With New York City
Katie Houlis at CBS News reports the Committee of Interns and Residents Service Employees International (CIR-SEIU) Union has reached a tentative deal with New York City to provide better pay for 2,300 Essential Workers. The 5.5-year contract agreement covers those Medical Interns and Residents employed at NYC Health+Hospitals. Wage increases in the yet-to-be-ratified contract total more than 16% over the term of the deal – and beginning in December 2024, starting salary for residents will rise from $66,247 to $81,238 under the agreement.
