Wesleyan University ‘Under Fire For Hiring Union-Busting Firm Amid’ Student-Worker Organizing Efforts

Members of the Wesleyan Graduate Labor Union (WesGLU) - which is part of Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) Local 153 - recently rallied to demand the college cancel its contract with the Union-Busting Law Firm Littler Mendelson.  Back in late April, Workers delivered a letter to Wesleyan President Michael Roth stating that 76% of Graduate Employees had signed Authorization Cards in support of forming a Union with OPEIU - the Unit includes all Graduate Employees who teach or do research at the university.  Since that announcement, Wesleyan has hired Littler to undermine the organizing effort.  Littler has a reputation for being one of the Nation’s most aggressive Anti-Union Law Firms.
