Unionized Workers Employed At A Third Manhattan Apartment Go On Strike
Max Parrott at LaborPress reports a group of Union-represented Service Workers at a Hell’s Kitchen Apartment Building walked off the job earlier this month during a short-term Strike after the building owner made Workers’ jobs more difficult in the wake of a successful Union Drive in September 2022. It’s the third building where Residential 32 Service Employees International Union (SEIU) BJ Workers have gone on Strike in pursuit of a first contract since February. Gregory Morris, a Concierge employed at the building, said: “(The Building’s Superintendent) has been making working at the site really uncomfortable ever since we won recognition with the Union.” So far, the Workers’ demands that management sit down at the bargaining table have been ignored.
