Workers At Partners Coffee In Brooklyn Join UFCW 1500
(BROOKLYN, NEW YORK) - Workers at Partners Coffee in Brooklyn have voted to join United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 1500 for fair wages and other benefits that come with a Union contract.
The 27 Workers employed at Partners Coffee include those who work in production, warehouse, the café and Kitchen Staff.
They joined Local 1500's Union Family because they demanded better working conditions and Workers’ Rights, UFCW Representatives said.
Throughout the Union Campaign, Employees encountered unsafe working conditions in unventilated rooms, coupled with inadequate training and equipment, UFCW Officials said.
With support from UFCW Local 1500 Organizers, Partners Coffee employees took the lead in organizing themselves.
UFCW Organizers guided them by speaking with Workers after their shifts, helping to develop Worker Leaders and encouraging discussions about Unionization.
The effort included hosting group meetings and running a Social Media Campaign on their @PartnersCoffeeUnion Instagram account to further involve the employees.
The Workers of Partners Coffee Union expressed their dedication to creating a sustainable and collective workplace environment and emphasized their commitment to collaborating with management to address concerns and improving working conditions for all Employees.
