Cleveland Rape Crisis Center Workers ‘Go Union,’ Join Service Employees International Union District 1199
Olivera Perkins at Signal Cleveland reports Cleveland Rape Crisis Center (CRCC) Employees have voted to Unionize with Service Employees International Union (SEIU) District 1199 West Virginia/Kentucky/Ohio. The Workers decided to Unionize because they believed CRCC leadership had not adequately responded to many of their concerns, including People of Color not being represented in certain positions and being laid off in higher percentages than their White counterparts. The tally was 32-to-6, according to a spokesman for the National Labor Relations Board, which was in charge of the election. Forty-three Employees were eligible to vote. The Union will represent primarily Clinical and Advocacy Staff, including Child Therapists, Therapists, Specialists and Coordinators.
