Thousands Of UNITE HERE Local 11-Represented Southern California Hospitality Workers Employed At 34 Hotels ‘Overwhelmingly Ratify New Contract Containing Historic Wins After Repeated Rolling Strikes’ Since Summer 2023

(SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA) - Thousands of Southern California Hospitality Workers represented by UNITE HERE Local 11 have overwhelmingly voted to ratify a new contract containing historic wins after repeated rolling Strikes since the Summer 2023.

UNITE HERE Local 11 Representatives say 98% of the Workers voted to ratify the agreement.

In addition, at 11 of the hotels, 100% of the Workers voted in favor of the new contract.

Meanwhile, contracts at dozens of hotels remain unsettled, including the Hotel Figueroa, Hotel Maya, Doubletree Downtown Los Angeles, and the LA Grand.

At these hotels, Union-represented Workers are continuing to Strike, picket or boycott for their contract.

Hotel Workers at the 34 hotels, who led the largest Hotel Strike in modern U.S. History, won higher pay, increased employer contributions to pensions, fair workload guarantees, health care protections and more.

The contract covers Room Attendants, Cooks and other non-tipped Workers at some of Los Angeles’ most high-end properties, such as the Beverly Hilton and the Waldorf Astoria.

By the end of this contract, Workers will see a 40%-to-50% increase in wages, with half of the rise being delivered in the first year of the agreement, Union Officials said.

“We have won a life-changing contract that transforms hotel jobs from low-wage service work to Middle Class professional positions,” Kurt Petersen, who serves As Co-President of Local 11.
