Nearly 300 Dealers Employed At The MGM Springfield Casino In Massachusetts ‘Go Union,’ Vote To Join The New England Joint Board UNITE HERE Local 301
Just under 300 Workers employed at the MGM Springfield, Massachusetts Casino have voted to join New England Joint Board UNITE HERE Local 301 in a Union Election that was overseen by the National Labor Relations Board. The results from 247 Poker and Table Game Employees out of 282 eligible Workers in the Bargaining Unit considerably expands the number of MGM Employees with Union Representation. Table Games Dealers, Poker Dealers and Poker Room Attendants will now join hundreds of other MGM Staff - including Bartenders, Slot Machine Attendants, Porters and more - who are already represented by UNITE HERE. The Union victory comes despite Union-Busting behavior from MGM - including threats to existing benefits and managers pressuring Workers to vote no in one-on-one meetings. The Workers say improving wages, bettering working conditions and making terms of employment more equitable were huge motivating goals that secured a successful election.
