UAW Says ‘A Majority’ Of Workers At Alabama Mercedes Plant ‘Have Signed’ Union Cards

Dave Jamieson at The Huffington Post reports the United Auto Workers (UAW) says more than half of the Workers employed at Mercedes-Benz’s Manufacturing Plant near Tuscaloosa, Alabama have signed Union Cards and intend to join the Union.  Hitting a majority of sign-ups marks a milestone for the UAW as it seeks to represent Workers at foreign-owned auto plants in the South.  About 6,000 are employed at the Tuscaloosa Plant, which produces sport utility vehicles, according to Mercedes.
