Close To 3,000 Members Of The United Food & Commercial Workers - Many Of Them In West Virginia, Are Set To Vote On A Contract Offer This Week
Chris Lawrence at The MetroNews - The Voice Of West Virginia reports that close to 3,000 Members of the United Food & Commercial Workers Union (UFCW), many of them in West Virginia, will vote on a contract offer this week from Kroger - but Union Representatives say it does not look promising. “Frankly we believe Kroger can do a lot better and they’re going to have to do a lot better if they expect the contract to be ratified,” said Jonathan Williams, a spokesman for UFCW Local 400 tells MetroNews. He adds an offered $2-an-hour or more wage increase offered by the company falls well short of meeting the inflation rate and will not be a strong increase for the Union’s Members.
