Civil Service Employees Association-Represented New York State Canal Corporation Members Ratify New, Five-Year Contract That Includes ‘No’ Concessions

(ALBANY, NEW YORK) - Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA)-represented Workers employed by New York State Canal Corporation have overwhelmingly ratified a new, five-year agreement with their employer.

Nearly 400 CSEA-represented Canal Corporation Employees maintain and operate New York’s 524-mile canal system that links the Hudson River with Lake Champlain, Lake Ontario, the Finger Lakes, the Niagara River and Lake Erie.

The canal passes through 25 Counties and is near more than 200 of the State’s communities.

The contract, which runs through 2027, includes increases in compensation for raises and salary schedule, many added benefits and no increases in Employee contributions to health care.

The agreement also includes numerous other enhancements, as well as no concessions.

The agreement covers nearly 400 CSEA-represented Canal Corporation Employees who are based in the Capital, Central and Western Regions of New York State

CSEA’s three Canal Corporation Local Presidents - District 3 Central Barge Canal Local President Chris Craine, District 2 Barge Canal East Local President Ron Euler and District 2 Barge Canal West Local President John Weisser, conducted the ballot count at CSEA Headquarters in Albany, along with the Union’s State Operations staff.
