LIUNA-Partnered Aecon’s Women in Trades Construction Training Program In Ontario, Canada Seeks 350 Women By Second Quarter Of 2023

Angela Gismondi at The Daily Commercial News by ConstructConnect reports the Aecon Women in Trades Construction Training Program - which partnered with the Laborers International Union of North America (LIUNA) in Ontario, Canada and began in 2019, has - to date, trained 75 participants.  But now, the program is looking to expand that number to 350 by the Second Quarter of 2023.  The program, established in 2019, is actively recruiting Women from across Ontario for ongoing cohorts.  It aims to help Women with little to no experience get the training they need to pursue a career in the Trades with fully paid training, wages and benefits.  Participants go through LIUNA’s eight-week Construction Craft Worker Program.  Once they complete the training, the Women are placed in the field to hone the skills they learned on a jobsite.
