Washington State Lawmakers Push For Apprenticeship Training Requirements For Permanent Cosmetic Technicians
Michelle Esteban at KOMO-TV reports Washington State Representative Cindy Ryu is the lead sponsor of a Bill that would address a permanent cosmetic license, which now requires zero hours of training and zero hours of Apprenticeship. Ryu is proposing 100 to 200 hours of training - depending on the procedure, and up to 300 hours for Technicians doing corrective procedures. If approved, new education requirements would fall under the State's Cosmetology License Regulations. Right now, a license is required for permanent Cosmetic Technicians, but no educational training on the technique in Washington.
