Kingsport, Tennessee Police ‘Utilizing Apprenticeship Program For New Officers, Effort Becomes The First In The Region’

Kiley Hill at WCYB-TV reports that 10 recently hired Kingsport Police Officers are taking part in a first-of-its-kind Apprenticeship Program - the first in the region and the second in the State of Tennessee.  The program is being funded through a State grant of $18,500, which will help pay for the Field Training Program that Officers are currently taking.  Kingsport Police Chief Dale Phipps said the Apprenticeship Program “provides an opportunity for enhanced training and gives us a better tool for accountability and to ensure that by the end of their training, they are where they need to be to provide the best level of professional service that they can.”
