‘Progress Builds’ Toward Los Angeles Hotel Strike Settlement As Union Reaches Deals With 10 More Hotels
Suhauna Hussain at The Los Angeles Times reports Unite Here Local 11 has reached tentative contract agreements with 10 more Southern California hotels covering hundreds of Housekeepers, Cooks, Dishwashers, Servers and Front Desk Workers who’ve been pushing for higher pay and better benefits. Momentum is now building to resolve the five-month-old Strike that initially involved 60 hotels and more than 15,000 Workers - and is believed to be the largest Hotel Strike in U.S. History. In all, 20 hotels have preliminarily agreed to new contracts that will raise wages, strengthen pensions and increase investments in health care.
