Buffalo’s Elmwood Taco And Subs’ Workers Win Union Election

(BUFFALO, NEW YORK) – Workers at Elmwood Taco and Subs (ETS) in Buffalo have won their Union Election with a final vote count of 10-to-4.

The Workers originally filed for a Union Election in late October.

As a result, ETS management responded to the organizing effort with Union-Busting tactics that included drastically cutting Workers’ hours, surveilling Workers over their Union activity, and holding mandatory Anti-Union captive audience meetings, the Workers said.

The Union subsequently filed charges with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) over management's illegal Anti-Union behavior.

Workers are now hoping ETS will end its Union-Busting Campaign, respect the results of the election, and come to the bargaining table to negotiate a contract in good faith

“I’m so glad we made it this far and I’m so proud of my Co-Workers and our Union.  We will continue to stand up for what’s right and protect Workers from unfair treatment,” said Abel Lopez, a Union Leader and ETS Worker.

“I’m so glad that we won.  I never dreamed I would be a part of something like this and there is no one I’d rather do it with everyone from ETS and Workers United,” said Violet Sequin, an ETS Employee. “We want to work here and we want what’s best for everyone, including new hires.  I’m so excited for our next journey.”
