(NEW YORK CITY) - American Federation of Musicians (AFM) Local 802 and the New York City Ballet (NYCB) have jointly announced a successful resolution to negotiations, resulting in a three-year contract for its Unionized Orchestra Members.

Local 802 and Ballet Management issued the following joint statement: "Local 802 and New York City Ballet are happy to announce that a contract agreement has been reached as NYCB opens its annual holiday season of George Balanchine’s 'The Nutcracker.'  The marriage of music and dance is a hallmark of NYCB and we are thrilled that this agreement has been finalized and we look forward to a successful season featuring our wonderful Musicians and Dancers who are among the greatest performers in the world.”

Under the new deal, Musicians will receive a 22.3% total compensation increase over the life of the contract, consisting of a 13% wage increase over three years, plus a restoration of a 9.3% COVID-related salary reduction.

The contract will also include changes to the Musicians’ Health Care Plan, which will continue to be funded by NYCB while also providing the Musicians with greater independence to choose their own plan, the Union said.
