Vermont Apprenticeship Program That Trains Chairlift Technicians Celebrates 20 Years

Burlington-Plattsburgh WCAX-TV reports from Montpelier, Vermont on a program that helps train people in ski lift maintenance - an effort that is celebrating 20 years.  The Tramway Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship Program is a three-year program created in 2003 and includes more than 75 hours of classroom instruction and 6,000 hours of on-the-job work.  The course covers general operations, maintenance and safety procedures.  The program is a collaborative effort between the Vermont Department of Labor, the Vermont State Apprenticeship Training Council, and the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training.  This year, 37 individuals finished the program.
