Kentuckiana Electrician & Training Center Is Filling The Need To Train Future Electricians
Sam Carter at WLKY in Louisville reports the Kentuckiana Electrician and Training Center seeks to fill the need for Electricians by offering a tuition-free, four-year training program. Students learn things as simple as wiring plugs in a house and as complex as electrical systems controlling things like running water. The Program's Training Director, Harold Reynolds, is proud that when his students leave, they do so with more than just a sense of accomplishment. "Right now, it's a ($112,000)-plus package, that's over ($77,000) a year on the check as well as full family medical coverage, two small national retirements and one huge local retirement," he said. The Training Center is affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) 369, which students join when they graduate.
