‘Three Times Truly Is A Charm’ - ‘Persistent’ NALC Branch 3 Letter Carrier Caitlin Caputo ‘Releases Her Dream, Appears In A United States Postal Service TV Commercial After Trying A Trio Of Times’

(BUFFALO, NEW YORK) – Sometimes it takes time to attain one’s goal

For Caitlin Caputo, a National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Branch 3 Member here in Western New York, it took three tries, but she finally reached her goal of appearing in a United States Postal Service (USPS) commercial.

In fact, and in the process, she realized a childhood dream after her trio of attempts turned out to be the charm.

“Since I was a kid, I wanted to be a model, but didn’t think I had a shot,” Caputo told NALC’s The Postal Record publication in an interview.

The USPS commercial was a Spanish-language spot (Screen Capture Below) that has aired on YouTubeTV.

Unfortunately, Caputo spoke no lines, but had a fantastic time flying out to Los Angeles for the shoot, being pampered by makeup artists and being paid a standard Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) Union wage for her time.

“‘What was the worst they could say to me?’ - ‘No?’  I’d tried twice before (in 2017 and then in 2018).  ‘I thought it would be cool,’” Caputo - who was born in Lewiston, lives in Niagara Falls and is a 10-year Member of Branch 3, tells WNYLaborToday.com.  “(This last time) My boss got an e-mail (after the third attempt) and ‘asked me if I’d applied.’  ‘I thought he was joking.’”

Caputo flew into Los Angeles in January (2023) and was taken right to where the shoot was to take place.

She was sized for her postal uniform and then was up at 6 a.m. the next morning where her hair and make-up were done before she was videoed as many as seven to 10 times making a delivery to a jewelry store.

“I was ‘just delivering some packages to a jewelry store and that was it.’  ‘It was exciting, but I didn’t know it would be a Spanish language spot.’  ‘They didn’t tell me,’” she said.  “When the commercial finally aired - ‘it was only a couple of seconds that you could see me.’”

Caputo’s Mother and Father were ecstatic about her chance and experience, with her Father telling her: “It’s Hollywood coming through!”

“I’m ‘proud, absolutely.’  ‘I just hadn’t thought it would be my time,’” Caputo said about her Hollywood experience, adding how good it was to know that her Branch 3 Family “had my back and supported me.”

NALC Branch 3 President David Grosskopf, Jr. told WNYLaborToday.com that he credited Caputo for “never giving up on her dream” and for “pushing it over the top.”

“‘It’s not every day that you see someone you know’ (in such a high-profile commercial).  ‘And to have one of our own in a major United States Postal Service commercial is good stuff because our people are the right people,’” said Grosskopf, adding Caputo was the first-ever Branch 3 Member to appear in such a USPS commercial.
