Rebecca Baird-Remba at The Commercial Observer reports the Joint Industry Board of the Electrical Industry (JIBEI) is planning a new Union Electrician Training Center at Herald Center, located at the corner of Broadway and West 34th Street.  The JIBEI is a Labor-Management Organization run by International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 3 and the New York Electrical Contractors Association.  The group has signed a lease to occupy 30,000 square feet in the 10-story, 250,000-square-foot building.  The center will host training classes for Apprentice Electricians and educational and cultural programs for Union Members. “Ultimately the people of New York City win - Union wages promote economic equality, build ‘Worker Power’ in the communities they live in, and provide safer working conditions,” the Electrical Contractors Association said.
