IAM Machinists Ratify New Amtrak Contract - Agreement Includes Wage Increase That Compounds To 34.2%, Increases In Apprenticeship Wages, Addition Of Martin Luther King Day As A Holiday, 10 Weeks Of Paid Parental Leave & Other Improvements
The International Association of Machinists Union has ratified a new contract with Amtrak. General Chairman Daniel N. Tavares III said the agreement includes: A 30% wage increase over the life of the contract, which compounds to 34.2%; Increases in the Apprenticeship wages; Addition of Martin Luther King Day as a holiday; 10 weeks of Paid Parental Leave; and other improvements. “This is an historic contract,” Tavares said. “We’ve made changes that will improve the lives of our Membership, given them more time with their families.”
