One In Five Construction Workers Is 55 Or Older, ‘So Failing To Recruit & Retain Labor Soon Could Mean A Sudden Dearth Of Experienced Workers’

Editor Zachary Phillips at Construction Dive reports the U.S. Construction Industry’s Workforce isn’t getting any younger - and that’s why experts say the time is now to invest in benefits, tech and inclusion initiatives.  Experts told Construction Dive that there needs to be more of a focus on recruiting and retention efforts, technology improvement and continued investments in education which will help ensure that the industry can bounce back when more experienced Workers retire.  One way, they say, to bring more fresh faces into construction is to invest in getting in front of students at younger ages.  In recent years, the industry has made progress recruiting Women and Minorities, in part due to investments in Apprenticeship Programs for developing careers of skilled Trades Workers.
