LABOR NEWS UPDATE: Unionized Residents Employed By The MediSys Health Network At Jamaica & Flushing Hospitals Reach Tentative Contract Deal, Avert Strike

Crystal Lewis at The Chief Leader reports 300 Unionized Residents employed by the MediSys Health Network at Jamaica and Flushing Hospitals in New York City have reached a tentative contract deal, just hours before they were set to go on Strike.  If ratified, the agreement will provide Resident Physicians represented by the Service Employees International Union’s (SEIU) Committee of Interns and Residents (CIUR) with 18% raises over three years.  The deal follows the wage pattern set by Nurses represented by the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA), whose Member Nurses went on Strike for a fair contract with Mount Sinai Hospital and Montefiore Medical Center earlier this year.
