A ‘Powerful’ New York City Labor Coalition ‘Plans To Pour $1 Million Into City Council Races,’ Backing Council Speaker For The Next Term

Michael Gartland at The New York Daily News reports a coalition of five powerful Labor Unions plans to spend more than $1 million to re-elect Democratic City Council Members facing challenges in this year’s Primary and General Elections.  The Labor Strong Coalition is composed of American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees District Council 37, Service Employees International Union 32BJ, the New York State Nurses Association, the Communications Workers of America and the Hotel Trades Council.  “Collectively, we represent hundreds of thousands of Workers and our endorsed candidates can expect to see an aggressive showing of political might, which we’re confident will deliver clear outcomes in these races,” the Labor Strong Coalition said in a statement to The Daily News.
