NYS Pipe Trades Association & Central And Northern New York Building Trades Council President Greg Lancette Says The Region Will “Need Thousands More Union Trades Members To Build Micron’s Semiconductor Plant In Clay”
Rick Moriarty at Syracuse.com reports the head of one of Central New York’s largest Labor Unions says it will needs thousands of new Members to build Micron Technology’s planned $100 billion Semiconductor Plant in Clay. Greg Lancette, who’s Business Manager of Syracuse-based Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 81- which has 1,500 Members, says the Union will need 3,000 to 4,000 Members to help build Micron’s Plant. Lancette, who also serves as President of the New York State Pipe Trades Association and the Central and Northern New York Building Trades Council, said his Union will ramp up recruiting to help meet the expected demand for labor.
