Early Childhood Education Workers ‘Criticize’ New York City Staffing Cuts
Crystal Lewis at The Chief Leader reports New York City Educators say that the Department of Education’s Early Childhood Division is being dismantled and are voicing no confidence in the leadership of Deputy Chancellor Kara Ahmed. Just two days before the start of the school year, about 400 Instructional Coordinators and Social Workers working in Early Childhood Programs received notice that they’d been excessed - meaning that their positions had been eliminated and that they would have to apply for other jobs if they wanted to keep working in the Public School System.
