'SHOT HEARD AROUND THE WORLD’ - Strike At Sysco In Syracuse ‘Threatens Food Supplies To Restaurants, Hospitals & More’

Don Cazentre & Charlie Miller at Syracuse.com report on 200 Teamsters Local 317-represented Drivers and Warehouse Workers employed at the Central New York Distribution Center for Food Supplier Sysco, who walked off the job earlier this week.  The job action affects supplies to local restaurants - as well as big institutions like schools, colleges, hospitals and nursing homes.  The Teamsters posted news of the walk-out on Facebook Tuesday night: “SHOT HEARD AROUND THE WORLD: Just now, at 9:21pm ET, more than 200 Sysco Teamsters at Local 317 in Syracuse, NY walked off the job to protest Unfair Labor Practices. Several other Sysco-branded locations are currently working without a contract or have contracts about to expire. This could spread. Stay tuned...”
