LABOR NEWS UPDATE: The Biden Administration ‘Presses’ Unions, Railroads ‘To Avoid Shutdown’

David Shepardson and Lisa Baertlein at Reuters combine to report that the Biden Administration is urging railroads and Unions to reach a deal to avoid a railroad work stoppage, saying it would pose "an unacceptable outcome" to the U.S. economy that could cost $2 billion a day.  The railroads and the Unions have until a minute after midnight on Friday to reach tentative deals.  The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) and the International Association of Sheet Metal Air, Rail, and Transportation Workers (SMART) account for more than 90,000 Rail Employees.
