Unions & Their Members ‘Giving Back To Their Communities’ - Laborers Union In Binghamton Makes Donation To Boys And Girls Club After Reported Theft Of Lawn Care Equipment
(BINGHAMTON, NEW YORK) – Laborers Local 785 is giving back to the Boys and Girls Club of Binghamton after the organization reported a theft of their lawn care equipment last month.
Members of Labors Local 785 donated new equipment as a part of their LIUNA Cares Philanthropy Program.
Hundreds of dollars in equipment was stolen from the Boys and Girls Club last month, a spokesperson told 12 News.
Aside from using it on the organization’s property, Boys and Girls Club Staff use it for their own business.
Club Executive Director MaryBeth Smith was thankful for the donation: "This is a ‘wonderful place, this is a great organization, and we're going to be able to do a bit better now, the business will do better, because of what they are doing for us today.’"
Laborers Local 785 President Michael Dundon said he benefited from the club as a youngster and was especially happy his Union had the opportunity to step up and give back to an organization that does so much for the community.
"There ‘is no greater feeling than giving back to your local community and giving back to your neighbors,’" Dundon said.
