1199 SEIU Healthcare Workers Need Our Help! ‘Channel Your Inner Norma Rae’ & ‘Use Your Voice To Call For More’ Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) To Aid In The Fight Against COVID-19
(BROOKLYN, NEW YORK) - 1199 Service Employees International Union (SEIU) has launched a new social media photo push, urging Health Care Workers and everyday Americans to channel their inner "Norma Rae," to call for more Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to aid in the fight against COVID-19.
There is a nationwide shortage of masks, gloves, gowns, and other equipment that helps shield Health Care Workers from the virus and other germs.
The 450,000 Health Care Workers who are represented by 1199 SEIU are calling for the Federal Government to release the stockpiles of PPE, ventilator and other tools it reserves for times of crisis.
1199 SEIU kicked off the push with a Brookdale Hospital Nurse in Brooklyn, extending her arms to call for PPE.
Other Workers have taken similar photos, calling attention to the need for the live saving tools.
