Nurses At The Unity Center For Behavioral Health In Portland, Oregon ‘Vote Overwhelmingly’ To Unionize - Workers Wanted To Create ‘Safer’ Work Environment

(PORTLAND, OREGON) - A Unit of 202 Registered Nurses (RNs) employed at Portland’s Unity Center for Behavioral Health have voted overwhelmingly to join Oregon Nurses Association (ONA), Union Officials have announced.

RNs decided to Go Union by a final tally of 128-to-25.

ONA Nurses wanted a Union - in part - to create a safer environment for patients and Staff, ONA Representatives said.

Since it opened in 2017, Unity Center has faced multiple investigations over violations of safety rules.

Unity Center is Portland’s only 24-hour Psychiatric Emergency Facility.

It’s operated by Legacy Health Systems as a joint venture with several other health networks.
