MGM Guest Service Representatives ‘Go Union’ - Vote To Join The United Auto Workers

(LAS VEGAS, NEVADA) – The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has certified that 57 MGM Guest Service Representatives who work in the Slot Department of the Las Vegas casino have successfully voted to join the United Auto Workers (UAW) Union.

MGM Employees are the latest in a string of recent and successful UAW Elections for Casino Dealers at Caesar’s, The Wynn, Harrah’s, Paris and Bally’s.

“Anytime Workers ‘overcome obstacles, so they can sit at the bargaining table, is a victory for all Las Vegas Workers.’  ‘It lifts all boats,’” UAW Representatives said.

Guest Service Reps at MGM voted 30-to-25 on January 24th (2019) after objections from MGM.  However, the NLRB reviewed and certified the election.  The January vote was the second vote after previous management objected to the election.

“We are ‘pleased to welcome’ MGM into the UAW’s Gaming Family.  MGM is a ‘premier destination’ in Las Vegas and MGM Guest Service Workers ‘are an important part of the company’s success in the Las Vegas market,’” UAW Region 5 Director Vance Pearson said.

For LeeAnn Ballenger having a Union will improve communication between guest services and management - which is a win-win for MGM customers.

“It’s ‘going to be great to be able to talk to the company with a real voice in our workplace,’” Ballenger said. “Things like ‘having consistent policies and a voice in how they are implemented is important to all of us and in the end will improve the visits of our guests.’”
