WNY Labor Issues Major Support & Commitment For State Senator Tim Kennedy

(BUFFALO) – From the New York State AFL-CIO to Dozens of Individual Buffalo Area Labor Unions, Which Collectively Represent Tens of Thousands of Workers, Organized Labor Very Publicly Issued its Support to Re-Elect State Senator Tim Kennedy (Democrat-Buffalo) During a Major Event That Was Held at the Downtown Buffalo Headquarters of 1199 Service Employees International (SEIU) Healthcare Workers East Late Last Week.

From the Buffalo Building & Construction Trades Council to the Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA), the American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME), the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT), the United Auto Workers (UAW) and the Communications Workers of America (CWA), Labor Leader After Labor Leader Stepped Forward to Offer a Ringing Endorsement of Senator Kennedy, Who’s Widely Described as a True Friend of Labor Here in Western New York.

“The Western New York Area Labor Federation is Very Pleased to Endorse the Re-Election Campaign of Senator Tim Kennedy,” Western New York AFL-CIO Area Labor Federation (WNYALF) President Richard Lipsitz said. “He Has Been a ‘True Friend’ to Our Organization and He ‘Never Forgets’ the Day-to-Day Struggles of Ordinary Working People.  Tim Kennedy’s Proven Himself to be a ‘Champion’ of the Labor Movement and We Will ‘Work Tirelessly’ to See He’s Re-Elected.”

The WNYALF is the Umbrella Labor Organization That Oversees Five Individual Central Labor Councils Across Western New York: Buffalo; Niagara-Orleans; Dunkirk; Jamestown; and Cattaraugus-Allegany.  Collectively, the WNYALF Represents More Than 100,000 Unions Workers Across the Region and Counts as its Affiliated Unions Those Labor Organizations Who’ve Also Endorsed Senator Kennedy for Re-Election.

Meanwhile, the New York State AFL-CIO, Which Represents More Than 2.5 Million Workers Across the State, Also Endorsed Kennedy, Citing His Relentless Fight for Western New York’s Working Families.  Said New York State AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento in a Distributed Statement: “Senator Tim Kennedy Has Been a ‘Fearless Advocate’ On Behalf of Hard-Working Western New Yorkers and Labor is ‘Proud’ to Stand With Him in His Campaign.  We Share Tim’s Commitment to Strong Public Services and to Creating Good, Long-Term Jobs, and We Look Forward to Continuing to Work With Him After His Re-Election to Ensure We Achieve Those Goals.”

Kennedy’s Been a Strong, Unwavering Voice Who’s Fought for Western New York and He’s Over the Course of Time Made the Issues That Matter Most to Working Families His Top Priorities as a State Senator, Focusing On Vital Initiatives Such as Creating Family-Sustaining Jobs, Improving Public Education, Strengthening Neighborhoods, Boosting Infrastructure Investment, Ensuring Western New York Gets its Fair Share of State Resources and Protecting the State’s Most Vulnerable.
