I’d like to Thank WNYLaborToday.com for its continued diligence to Organized Labor.

I know all too well that the decline in Union Support, Education and Collective Bargaining has placed this Country - and more importantly Western New York - in a dismal economic state.

With the temperature in politics and the attitudes of Voters, it’s hard for the General Public to find comfort and confidence in our Elected Officials.

Politically, the last 50 years have proven to be more like a Grateful Dead Concert than an executed plan to better the Citizens of Western New York.

With that said, I’d like to take this opportunity to commend Niagara County Legislator Jason Zona for refusing to accept the eligible Health Insurance available to him as a County Legislator.

His awareness to the fact that he already has coverage through his job as a Firefighter has saved the Taxpayers of Niagara County money - however minimal.

Should other Elected Officials take the same unpopular yet necessary adjustments to benefit packages and ancillary perks, maybe this area could be as great as it once was.

I feel his actions should be recognized as a positive change contrary to the status quo of politicians we are so accustomed to.
