A Strike Authorization Vote In The Negotiations Involving Three Buffalo-Area Unions & The Kaleida Health System Played A Big Role In A New Master Agreement Being Brought To Fruition. And A High-Profile Public Campaign & Talk Of A Strike Played A Major Role In USW Local 6992 Coming To A New Contract Agreement at DuPont's Tonawanda Plant. So, What Role Do You Think Strike Authorization Votes & Threatened Strikes Play In Long, Drawn-Out Negotiations?

1. Does the Leadership of the Union have the 'Full' Confidence that the Membership are Not Only in Full Support, but will they also Participate in Full Force to 'Stand in Unity on a Picket Line. I mean 'Stand in Solidarity' Every Day it Takes before an Agreement is Reached. At the End of the Day, the Leadership Cannot be Standing on a Picket Line (like a General) but have NO ARMY/MEMBERSHIP in Mass Participating. The Employer then Learns of the Union's Weakness and Lack of Support.
2. The Employer Unequivocally has to be FEARFUL of the Union.
So, the Actions of the CWA, SEIU, Operating Engineers and USW Clearly Sent a Powerful 'Message of Fear,' which in Effect, Gives Support to other Unions. I say that because those Employers Understand the Support Given by Many Other Unions in Solidarity. That Understanding Provides a Powerful Fear.
Anyway, I've always said, there's 'Nothing Like a Good Old Picket Line/Rally with Hundreds of Union Members and Community Activists to Demonstrate that LABOR IS ALIVE AND KICKING!
Thank You.
