WNY AFL-CIO Area Labor Federation Announces High-Road Economic Initiatives
The Western New York AFL-CIO Area Labor Federation (WNYALF) has announced a number of High-Road Economic Initiatives that the Labor Movement across our Region will ambitiously champion in 2013.
During its recently-held Annual Meeting in Suburban Buffalo, WNYALF President Richard Lipsitz said the Western New York Labor Movement “must put forward a Positive View of the Future of our economy, and locally, this means we need to push (the following) Major Economic Projects:”
A Major Rebuild of the Buffalo Harbor, along with Dredging the Port and River of Buffalo;
A Major Reconstruction of the Buffalo Waste-Water System, especially in the South Buffalo/Hamburg Area;
The Expansion of the Niagara Falls Airport with Cargo Hubs and Major Maintenance Facilities;
and Protection of the Dunkirk and Somerset Power Facilities;
with a Long-Range Goal Of Renewable Energy.
“All of these are ‘real possibilities,’ funding exists. They are not ‘Pie in the Sky Projects’ or ‘Quick Fixes,’ like the failed Bass-Pro or the never-ending Peace Bridge Controversy,” Lipsitz stressed.
So, what do you think?
What should the WNYALF prioritize when it comes to its announced High-Road Economic Initiatives?
