Working Families Kick Off Grassroots Campaign With Call For “Good American Jobs Now” In 23 States At 164 Worksites
(WASHINGTON) – Starting yesterday (Monday, July 12th) and running through July 25th, Working Families are kicking off a Nationwide grassroots worksite campaign with a call for “Good American Jobs Now!” and the candidates that support them.
This effort highlights the greatest strength of the Labor Movement – the ability to have one-on-one conversations with members about the issues facing Working Families, representatives of the National AFL-CIO announced. The first two weeks of grassroots campaigning are the beginning of an unprecedented Labor 2010 Program, which flows directly from the issues work to ensure that the resources of Working Families are dedicated to supporting politicians who are on their side when it comes to creating jobs in America, holding Wall Street and big business accountable and ending unfair trade practices.
"If politicians want the support of Working Families in November they need to create good jobs here in America now!," AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka said. "People aren't interested in campaign slogans or promises, they want results."
The first wave of grassroots campaigning is happening in 23 states, at 164 worksites where over 300,000 flyers will be distributed.
Added Trumka: "If politicians are fighting for Working Families, then we will work our hearts out for them. If they aren't delivering and think they can take our support for granted, then they may be awfully lonely come November."
